Membership
and dues
Established
members of CPCB continue automatically as band members each September 1
unless there has been an agreement initiated by a member or the CPCB Director
to terminate the membership. Dues are assessed once a year for the period
beginning September 1 through August 31 of the next year and remain $30 for
the 2008-09 season. As of Sept. 1,
2003, musicians invited to join the band after the start of any season will
pay a pro-rated fee. Voting privileges are extended to band members whose
dues are paid. Student members do not pay dues and, therefore, do not vote on
business issues of the band. In
addition to dues, membership in CPCB requires that you purchase our
dress-white shirt with shoulder patch and epaulets plus the informal
blue-knit shirt with the band logo embroidered on it. Special concert attire
may be requested in the form of formal black tie and tuxedo or suit for men
and black dresses or pants suits for women. Rosemary Ward is the band
Quartermaster and can answer your questions about attire. Rehearsals, performances and music folders
Unless
otherwise stated in the monthly information bulletin, rehearsals are held
every Thursday evening, 7 to 9:30, in the Music Room of San Juan High School,
7551 Greenback Lane, Citrus Heights, California 95610. We appreciate your
efforts as volunteer musicians to attend the CPCB rehearsals. If you must be
absent, please notify your section leader and, whenever possible, call
someone from the CPCB substitute list to take your place at the missed
rehearsal. Members are expected to attend concerts. The call for the concerts
is 30 minutes before the downbeat. If you must miss a scheduled
performance, please plan to have a substitute for your part. To qualify as a
performance substitute, a person must have rehearsed with the band at one of
the two rehearsals prior to the scheduled concert. The Director may approve
exceptions to this request. Out-of-area
performances will be agreed upon by a vote of the band members. Any expenses
incurred on such a trip will be the responsibility of individual band
members. You are welcome
to take your music folders home to practice the music, but these must be
returned to the next rehearsal without fail. Please do not mark the music in
your folder with anything but the provided pencil. Highlight your own copies
... for the most part, this is NOT our music. Music
and seating arrangements for the band are determined by agreement of the
Director and section leaders. All section leaders are chosen by the Director.
Decisions on solo work in any section are ultimately the responsibility of
the Director. Member
